FISHING TYPE WE PRACTICE
Be attentive
Jigging
Jigging is the best way to attract fish by creating an erratic motion in the water.
We target species
such as the dogtooth tuna, yellowfin tuna, amberjack, giant trevally, wahoo, barracuda and a big
variety of first choice bottom fish species.
Dropshot
This technique, involving light weights and small silicon baits is very popular amongst anglers from
all around the world.
This technique is often used to target fish that prefer to feed near the bottom.
The drop shot is a very relaxing fishing technique, which combines perfectly with jigging.
Popping
Fishing for the giant trevally with the popping technique has been a favorite among islanders, and now we have adapted the same technique to target yellowfin tuna around some fishing spots and have seen amazing success. Witnessing a wild yellowfin tuna strike on the surface is a thrilling experience, and the fight that follows when using a spinning rod is even more extraordinary.
All year round we can catch Yellowfin tuna ranging from 5 to 35 pounds but during the months of February, March and April the yellow fin tuna migrating along the east coast of Mauritius will reach up to 215 pounds.
The best is time either at sunrise from 5:00 am till 9:00 am or from or sunset from 3:00 pm till 7:00 pm.
Experienced anglers are free to bring their own rods and reels, but make sure you have a strong one!
